Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S history. She is a member and former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California. She was reelected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
